Apart from Group B rallying, Henk van der Linde had always been a fan of the Opel 400-series (Ascona and Manta). When he heard at the beginning of the new century that there had also been a “Kadett 400” project, Van der Linde wanted to know more and started tracing these vehicles but unfortunately did not find much information. In 2011 he eventually started building a copy with the help of four pictures of the prototype and a very limited amount of text. But the information was enough to create this copy. Mehr >

This Lancia Delta S4 owned by Bruno Ianniello was one of the 200 homologation cars needed for Group B homologation and named by Lancia as the “Stradale”. When converting it into a competition car, Ianniello installed many evolution parts from the rally car. Thus, the S4’s DNA is very close to the one of the former works cars and it has 550 bhp. Bruno has been driving his S4 on hillclimbs and small circuit races for decades and has won everything there. He drove his first rally at the Eifel Rallye Festival in 2024 and loves to return. Mehr >

Mouton
Karsten Hinz acquired this Audi in 2015 and has since optimised it to copy the Group 4 car from 1981, just as Michèle Mouton drove it at the Sanremo Rally in 1981. The car was completely rebuilt from the bodyshell onwards and the basic body was a 1983 model of the Urquattro. In addition, a GRP body kit of 1981/1982, a radiator grille made of carbon fibre and a copy of the original welded-in roll cage of Group 4 was added. In addition belt struts where welded in for a HANS system. Mehr >

Herbert Grünsteidl and Franz Wurz were works drivers for Porsche Salzburg in the European and Austrian Rallycross Championship in 1974. At the end of the year, Porsche Salzburg ended its involvement, Franz Wurz got the Rallycross Beetle and Herbert the Rally Beetle with the licence plate S 117.235. He registered it to his residence and drove it to second place in the 1975 Jänner Rally. 45 years later, Herbert was able to acquire this Beetle again and was thrilled because it was still in very original condition. In January 2018 Daniel Jünger was able to acquire this 309 because he has a very special relationship to this Peugeot. His father was a mechanic at Peugeot Germany and built and serviced this 309 and Daniel himself was an apprentice at that time too. The Jüngers lend their former driver Kalle Grundel their 309 for a few selected stages of the Eifel Rallye Festival. Mehr >

After the end of Toyota's Formula 1 involvement, Gerd Dicks left TMG (formerly TTE), set up his own business on the Lower Rhine and continues to build racing engines there. As the proud owner of the original Toyota Celica that Lars-Eric Thorph drove in the 1986 Hong Kong-Peking Rally and lots of parts for it, he decided to rebuild the sister car in this rally during the boredom of the Corona period. It was finally finished in 2024. Mehr >

Noberasco
Joost Deen has a special passion for rarities and since nobody outside Italy is using an Alfa 75 in rallying, his choice was quickly done. Additionally, the V6 engine with its sidepipe exhaust is music for the ears of any rally fan. This replication of Gabriele Noberasco’s 1988 Sanremo Alfa was only finished in 2018. Mehr >

Mandelli Antonella
Fascinated by the rather exotic Mandelli-Alfa of 1981 in rallying, Maarten Buitenhuis had one built for himself in 2023. Mehr >

Mouton
This Audi came from Dubai in pretty poor condition with two other Quattros and was restored to competition standard by Kessel and the engine by Lehmann. In 2016 and 2017 it was still rallying with Michael Hinderer in the Mitropa Cup in Germany before Michael Brechmann took it over. Mehr >

This Peugeot 205 T16 remained with Peugeot Germany in Saarbrücken for many years after 1985 and later in Cologne when the company moved and merged with Citroen. It was often exhibited in public. However, Peugeot was not in a position to prepare it ready to drive and finally sold it to Ludwig Biewen. Another classic example of how the rally treasures of the past need private initiatives to keep them running. Mehr >
