AUDI 80 Quattro - 1984, Gr. A - Volker Eckl/Antonia Eckl

John de Heijde built his own replication of a very rare Group B car: an Audi 80 Quattro. Anyone wondering why this rather standard car is listed as a Group B car, here is the answer. At the beginning of 1983, Audi wanted to show the skills of its new 80 Quattro on snow but unfortunately they had not yet produced the 5,000 cars needed for Group A homologation. Thus they had no other choice than to let it run as a Group B car. It is as simple as that. Mehr >

BMW 635 Csi - 1985, Gr. A - Claus Peter Wehner/

Claus-Peter Wehner had already been a Slowly Sideways regular before 2015 driving a different 635 CSI which proved to be quite unreliable. Then, at the end of 2014, he got the chance to purchase another 635 CSI which had been used in circuit racing. He bought this car and turned it into a precise copy of the BMW used on the Corte Inglese Rally in 1985. Mehr >

Ford Escort RS1800 - 1978, Gr. 4 - Johannes Wagner/Thomas Klamerski

As years of searching for a ready-built and reasonably priced Escort MK2 remained unsuccessful, Johannes Wagner built one completely from scratch on his own. In September 2019, a matching 2-door Escort MK2 base model was purchased and a year later, in October 2020, the build began. In November 2021, the Escort was then approved by the MOT and registered for the road again. Another year later, he used it for the first time in a rally, the Ried Rally Sprint 2022 in Ichenheim. Fiat 131 Abarth Mirafiori - 1980, Gr. 4 - Danilo Voigtmann/Mirko Voigtmann

This Fiat, which had been completely overhauled and restored by the Voigtmann family, came from Switzerland and was in extremely poor condition, actually ready for the scrap yard. However, it had many original parts and an FIA car pass. They spent many years researching, collecting, organising parts worldwide and paying great attention to detail so that differences from the original are hard to spot. The colour scheme has been painted to match the period. Mehr >

Renault 5 Turbo - 1984, Gr. B - Markus Trapp/Sebastian Trapp

This Renault came as a Turbo2 in 2003 from France to Germany and was modified to Tour de Corse spec which meant different front suspension and coil spring and damper units instead of the torsion bar suspension. Markus Trapp did even build his own suspension parts to change the road car to a proper competition version as used in 1984 by Renault Sport. Mehr >

Ford Cortina Lotus Mk2 - 1968, Gr. 2 - Heinz Scholl/Isabelle Kart Scholl

This Lotus Cortina Mk2 was originally registered in the UK (that’s the reason why it is right-hand drive) and when the owner moved to Switzerland, he took the car with him. In 1972, it was sold to a Swiss master of car mechanics who used it as his regular road car but also entered club events like auto slaloms and hill-climbs with it. For years later, in 1976, he swapped the Cortina against the newer Escort. Mehr >

The company SG Power built this Fiat 131 Abarth with an effort of about 2000 hours to a copy of the Monte Carlo winning car of 1980. It is part of the collection of Walter Münch, who had the goal of rebuilding all of Walter Röhrl's Monte Carlo winning cars. Mehr >

The Schölderle couple have a great fondness for Opel rally cars and thought about what would be missing from the whole Opel range at slowly sideways. That's when they came up with the idea of the Opel GT, it can be as simple as that. Mehr >

Subaru Impreza 555 - 1994, Gr. A - Marc Schippers/Robèr Romviel
Original

Marc Schipper bought this Subaru in mid-2018 form Coen Vink, a Dutch rally champion who did not drive this Subaru much. He was lucky enough that he sold it. Then a complete restoration of the white car started by GP Elite with Dick de Graaf and Ian Gwynne from BGM. One and a half years later the car was completely done. Due to the pandemic, it was not able to use it in Demo events much. Marc drove it on some GP Elite rally days and was impressed, as driving a proper Ex-works car was much fun. Mehr >
