The countdown has started, and the tension is rising. After two cancellations due to CV-19, the anniversary edition of the ADAC Eifel Rallye Festival will finally take place from July 21st. At the same time, this tenth edition of the largest mobile rally museum will be celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the World Rally Championship.
Also this year the photo competition of the Eifel Rally Festival will take place.
The winning photo 2019 of Bram Lambrechts might almost as well have been taken during the Safari Rally in 1985. At that time there was still a lot of black-and-white photography and printing, while the forest in the north of Kenya looks identical in some places to the Eifel location. The photo from 2019 illustrates in a very special way the concept of the Eifel Rallye Festival which is the possibility to present and preserve the history of the rally sport in a pure form.
It will be a bit crowded in and around Daun when the participants and fans of the Eifel Rallye Festival gather in the Volcanic Eifel on the weekend from July 21/23, 2022. There will be one hundred and fifty-five historic rally cars and an additional twenty vehicles that comprise the stage-opening squad showing themselves to the fans on the demonstration stages and also on the rally mile in Daun. "Obviously, participants and fans are waiting for the Festival just as impatiently as we are", says organisation manager Otmar Anschütz. "Thanks to the huge rush for entries, we had to close the list early, while the pre-orders for tickets and programmes are already way above anything we've ever had before."
This is a unique opportunity: at the Eifel Rally Festival shakedown (Daun, Vulkaneifel), you can bid for a ride with Wolf-Dieter Ihle in the original winning car of the legendary Pikes Peak hill climb from 1983. Enjoy the ride in the quattro, one of the most legendary vehicles in rally history.
>At the Portuguese round of the World Rally Championship, there was a foretaste of what fans will be able to experience in full at the ADAC Eifel Rallye Festival from July 21st to 23rd, 2022. The FIA celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of its World Rally Championship with many celebrities and champions from the WRC’s history. In the middle of it all, there were selected historic vehicles from Slowly Sideways taken from those that will appear in the Eifel.
The entry list for this year's Eifel Rally Festival will be closed early on 15 May
The entry list for this year's Eifel Rally Festival will be closed early on 15 May.
Why?
Quite simple: The interest is so huge that there are already entries for all available places. And the waiting list is also quite large. Anyone who still enters now has no realistic chance of getting a place on the starting grid. Therefore, from our point of view, it is only fair to announce this in time and close the entry list.
A very special edition of the ADAC Eifel Rally Festival will take place on the weekend of July 21-23. The festivities for what is the delayed tenth anniversary of the largest rolling rally museum plus the fiftieth season of the World Rally Championship will attract a unique field of starters to Daun in the Volcanic Eifel. "Shortly after the opening of the entry list, the one hundred and fifty available starting places were booked and the waiting list also filled up," reports Reinhard Klein (Cologne). What excited the head of Slowly Sideways, the Europe-wide association of owners of historic rally cars, was "the incredible quality and diversity of the entries. This means that we can present all facets of the fifty-year history of the WRC at our Festival."
The medias accreditation of the Eifel rally Festival is opened. The accreditation is possible only via the online form. Deadline for accreditation is the 7.07.2022.

Only ten days after the entry list for the Festival opened, the organisers already had more than one hundred and thirty registrations. "Simply impressive, a fantastic response. After an involuntary break of two years, the participants are probably awaiting our Festival just as eagerly as we are," beams Reinhard Klein (Cologne) after the first interim result. When the earth shakes again around Daun in the Volcanic Eifel on the weekend of July 21st/23rd, 2022, a very special Festival edition will take place.
