Jorges Sohn Pedro und Freunde bauten im Frühjahr 2025 eine Kopie des Starlets mit dem er 1983 den dritten Platz in der portugiesischen Meisterschaft belegte. Beim Eifel Rallye Festival wir er seine Premiere feiern und reist deshalb extra von Portugal aus an.

Jorge Ortigao begann seine Karriere als offizieller Toyota-Fahrer in Portugal im Jahr 1980 mit einem Starlet 1.0. Nach zahlreichen Erfolgen des kleinen und robusten japanischen Autos wurde 1983 das zweitürige Modell eingeführt, das deutlich leichter und wettbewerbsfähiger als sein Vorgänger war und einen 1,3-Liter-Motor mit rund 130 PS hatte. Der aus einem serienmäßigen Toyota Starlet 1.3S umgebaute Rallyewagen der Gruppe 2 ermöglichte es Jorge Ortigão, auf jedem Untergrund alles zu geben und sich gegen die damaligen Fahrzeuge der Gruppen 4 und B durchzusetzen. So wurde er 1983 Dritter in der portugiesischen Rallye-Meisterschaft. 1984 folgte der Vizemeistertitel in einem Corolla GT.

Jorge's son Pedro and friends built a copy of the Starlet in spring 2025, with which he finished third in the Portuguese championship in 1983. He will be making his debut at the Eifel Rallye Festival and is travelling from Portugal especially for the occasion.

Jorge Ortigao started his connection as official Toyota driver in Portugal in 1980 with a Starlet 1.0. After numerous successes of the small and robust Japanese car the two-door model was introduced in 1983, being significantly lighter and more competitive than its predecessors and using a 1.3 litre engine of around 130 bhp. Built from a standard road Toyota Starlet 1.3S and transformed into a Group 2 rally car, it allowed Jorge Ortigão to push hard on any type of terrain, finishing against the Group 4 and B cars of the time as third overall in the 1983 Portuguese Rally Championship. In 1984, he followed up with the runner-up title in a Corolla GT.

Le fils de Jorge, Pedro, et ses amis ont construit une réplique de la Starlet au printemps 2025, avec laquelle il a terminé troisième du championnat portugais en 1983. Il fera ses débuts à l'Eifel Rallye Festival et se rendra spécialement du Portugal pour l'occasion.

Jorge Ortigao a débuté sa carrière de pilote officiel Toyota au Portugal en 1980 au volant d'une Starlet 1.0. Après les nombreux succès remportés par cette petite voiture japonaise robuste, le modèle deux portes a été lancé en 1983. Nettement plus léger et plus compétitif que ses prédécesseurs, il était équipé d'un moteur 1,3 litre développant environ 130 ch. Construite à partir d'une Toyota Starlet 1.3S de série et transformée en voiture de rallye du groupe 2, elle a permis à Jorge Ortigão de pousser à fond sur tous les types de terrain, terminant troisième au classement général du championnat portugais des rallyes 1983, derrière les voitures des groupes 4 et B de l'époque. En 1984, il a remporté le titre de vice-champion au volant d'une Corolla GT.
