Eifel Rallye Festival from July 24th to 26th, 2025
- The rolling rally museum conquers the Vulkaneifel once again
- Optimisation of the schedule for participants and fans
- International class reunion of the rally scene in Daun
The historic journey continues since the next ADAC Eifel Rallye Festival will once again take place in and around Daun in the Vulkaneifel from July 24th to the 26th, 2025. Over one hundred and sixty original or faithfully reproduced rally cars from the history of this fascinating sport will once again delight tens of thousands of fans who will be watching the largest rally museum on wheels. “What started as an idea in 2012 has now become an important part of safeguarding the history of rallying.” says Reinhard Klein happily, “Our participants are realising more and more how important it is to preserve their cars true to the originals. The quality of our starting field is growing from year to year.” This development is also thanks to Slowly Sideways, the Europe-wide association of owners of historic rally cars of which Klein, from Cologne, is the head. “Our concept is gaining more and more friends. There are now several other international events that are modelled on ours.” At the Eifel Rallye Festival, the rally cars, which are otherwise often only seen in museums and exhibitions, are not only on display. They are also shown in action on cordoned-off demonstration tracks. “However, each team also has to decide how fast they can ‘demonstrate’ with their car. On the one hand, this depends on the technology of the car and, to a large extent, on the situation of the spare parts market,” says Klein, explaining the different driving styles. “But no matter how – where else is it possible to experience the entire spectrum of the sport in action, from the classics of the 1960s to the Group B cars and the first WRC cars?”
Optimisation of the schedule for participants and fans
“It always made us all very sad when we had to turn away so many teams that would have liked to take part,” explains Head of Organisation, Otmar Anschütz from the organising MSC Daun. However, the size of the Rally Mile in the centre of Daun limits the number of vehicles that can be exhibited there. “We have therefore adapted the concept in two ways. We will reduce the number of advance cars in favour of the Festival field. At the same time, however, we will also ensure that there is a selection of top teams there for the fans, who will set the mood for the main field with their spectacular driving styles.” The second adjustment concerns shifts in the timetable. “Instead of the shakedown on Thursday, we will start with two additional stages on Friday morning. This means that Friday and Saturday will be completely dedicated to the demonstration drives.” Thursday will then be available for the public to visit scrutineering, during which all vehicles will be presented. The group photo, the drivers' briefing, and the autograph session with the VIP drivers which is so popular with the fans, will also take place before the Welcome Evening. “So everyone, participants and fans alike, can enjoy the official kick-off with the open-air cinema in a relaxed atmosphere,” explains Anschütz.
