ADAC Eifel Rally Festival: The MSC Daun forest is growing

  • Two hundred more trees planted for environmental protection.
  • New motto: “To the ‘60s and back”.
  • New route: “Hillesheimer Land” near Walsdorf.

Since the end of November is the best time for planting, the members of MSC Daun fulfilled their charity promise from the 2025 Eifel Rallye Festival during that month. For each participant, as well as for all other vehicles used in the organisation of the Festival, one tree was planted. By means of this initiative, the Festival organisers once again made an active contribution to environmental protection and global re-forestation. At the same time, these efforts also offset the carbon footprint of the event.
As with the 2024 planting campaign, the two hundred new trees were chosen in such a way that they themselves can withstand the effects of climate change. Forester Jan Reinert, responsible for the forests of the town of Daun and accompanied by Sebastian Holz, not only selected the certified trees, but also contributed his professional expertise by personally accompanying the planting campaign. The plot of land on the old Neunkirchener Weg, below the Warth and just a stone's throw from the MSC club office, had already been made available for this purpose last year by Mayor Friedhelm Marder. “With the additional two hundred trees planted for the 2025 Festival, we are taking big step towards our goal of creating an MSC Daun forest here,” said Otmar Anschütz, chairman of the Motorsport Club and also head of the organisation for the Eifel Rally Festival. “Every tree planted is an important step towards a sustainable future and shows that motorsport and environmental protection do not have to be mutually exclusive.”

Thirty volunteers from the MSC Daun ensured that the labour-intensive work was completed quickly. In addition to the trees, forester Reinert also brought along his famous wild sausages to sustain the volunteers. In a convivial atmosphere, the planting campaign was reviewed in detail over a barbecue.
In addition to projects like this one, ahead of the Fourteenth edition of the Eifel Rallye Festival in July 2026, the organisers have already raised a total of over €83,000 for charitable causes through various campaigns.

New motto: “To the ‘60s and back”
This time, the fast-moving journey through the history of rallying will be run under the motto: “To the ‘60s and back”. From July 23rd to 25th, 2026, the ADAC Eifel Rallye Festival will present to the spectators around one hundred and seventy original or faithfully reproduced cars from sixty years of rallying history on the special stages of the Eifel. “This year’s motto will be taken into account in the starting order,” explains Reinhard Klein, who, as head of Slowly Sideways, is responsible for creating the entry list. "The main field will get older and older until we reach the 1960s in the middle of the field. Then towards the finale, we will present the fans with vehicles that come from the more recent past of our chosen sport."
The entry list for the 2026 Festival will open on February 1st, 2026.

New route: “Hillesheimer Land” near Walsdorf
In order to ensure that, once again, the Festival will present the teams taking part with a varied event, the organisers have added a new special stage. As well as providing fans with more attractive places from which to watch the rally cars in action, especially during the Saturday route, this new stage will add interest for our regular participants. “Working together with the municipalities concerned, we have developed the Hillesheimer Land demonstration stage near Walsdorf by means of a well-coordinated process,” reports Otmar Anschütz. “Subject to the final approval of the licensing authorities, this particular route will be run twice, which is at the start of both Saturday loops next year.”
